FLW was established in 2008 as a response to the different levels of knowledge and skills presented by youth front line workers in the city of Toronto and with the main objective of building capacity and transforming the way that youth workers deliver their services in our city.
With input from frontline youth workers, employers and Youth service recipients, FLW will develop a training certification program and delivery model for youth frontline and direct service workers. The certification will build capacity of these workers to engage and serve youth by developing best practices and providing a holistic understanding of the individual needs of young people.
By combining the development of skills acquired in the community practice with knowledge acquired in a classroom, FLW curriculum will be recognized by the whole sector and will ultimately result in greater consistency in services from frontline workers across the city of Toronto.
